Sliding driveway gates

Sliding gates in Auckland

Sliding gates are the go-to for wide driveways, sloping sections and tight spaces where a swinging leaf won't fit. We design them to match your fence and house, build them, and automate them if you want.

Types of sliding gate

Tracked sliding gates

Runs on wheels along a ground track. A good fit for level concrete driveways.

Cantilever gates

No track across the driveway. The gate rides on rollers to one side, which suits gravel, shingle and uneven ground.

Bi-parting gates

Two leaves that slide apart from the middle. Useful when there isn't room for one long gate to slide back.

Matching pedestrian gates

A path gate in the same design, so visitors don't need the driveway gate opened.

Automation

Add a Centurion motor now or later. We set up the power, remotes and keypad.

Concrete & footings

Track beams, footings and post holes done by us, so the gate runs straight for years.

What you need for a sliding gate

A sliding gate needs a clear run beside the opening, roughly as long as the gate itself. It also needs a level, solid base: a concrete track beam for a tracked gate, or a strong footing for a cantilever.

If you plan to automate it, we'll allow for power to the motor at the same time. Digging once is cheaper than digging twice.

Designed to match the frontage

Vertical or horizontal slats, solid panels, open pickets or a mix. We draw the gate together with the fence and letterbox so the whole frontage lines up, from slat spacing to post heights.

FAQ

Sliding gates: common questions

How much room do I need for a sliding gate?

Roughly the width of the opening again, along the fence line beside it. If there isn't that much room, a bi-parting slider or a swing gate may suit better.

Tracked or cantilever?

Tracked gates run on a wheel along a ground track and suit level driveways. Cantilever gates have no track across the driveway, which suits uneven ground and gravel.

Can a sliding gate go on a sloping driveway?

Yes. A slope running up the driveway usually isn't a problem because the gate slides across it. A slope across the opening needs a level footing or a cantilever design.

Can I automate it later?

Yes. We can build the gate motor-ready and add the motor whenever you're ready.
